Masterclass Registration
This edition Bang Awards Festival welcomes Meg LeFauve, the acclaimed American screenwriter and one of the most influential voices in contemporary animation. Best known for her work on Pixar’s Inside Out, Inside Out 2, and The Good Dinosaur, Meg LeFauve will present a masterclass dedicated to creating emotionally engaging characters that audiences can connect with and care about. A rare opportunity for animation professionals and festivalgoers to gain insight into the creative process of one of the industry’s most respected storytellers.
The industry programme will also feature additional guests. Justin and Shel Rasch will share their journeys in animation and how their experiences led to the creation of Stunt Puppet Pictures, their stop-motion studio. Sandeep Menon will talk about his experience working at major animation studios such as Blue Sky Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, as well as the importance of developing personal projects as a source of inspiration for his work on larger productions. Niccolò Gioia and Tommy Grainger will present a stop-motion workshop! Ala Nunu, the artist behind this edition’s poster illustration, will also give the audience a glimpse into her artistic practice in a relaxed and informal conversation.
Representing Portugal, the programme will also feature Portuguese artists. João Monteiro will take the audience behind the scenes of the animation process, drawing on his experience working on international productions such as Scavengers Reign and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Marta Macedo will trace her journey from studying Fine Arts to building an international career as a freelance Character Artist, exploring the creative process of transforming 2D concepts into expressive 3D characters.
The workshops and masterclasses are curated and presented in collaboration with director Bruno Caetano and Laure Goasguen.
